Eric Clapton's 'The Fool' guitar and Kurt Cobain's last instrument heading to auction

Iconic guitars belonging to Eric Clapton and Kurt Cobain are heading to auction.

The auction will take place from 16 to 18 November live in Music City at Hard Rock Cafe Nashville and online at julienslive.com.

Julien's has amassed a staggering collection of over 1,000 historic items, previously owned and used by an illustrious lineup of music legends, including Kurt Cobain, Nirvana, Eric Clapton, Elvis Presley, Prince, The Beatles, Paul McCartney, John Lennon, Janis Joplin, Pete Townshend, Johnny Cash, Albert King, Dolly Parton, and Eddie Van Halen - as well as many others.

At the heart of the auction is an iconic guitar that holds immediate recognition and immense historical and musical significance. Previously wielded by Eric Clapton during his legendary tenure with the rock band Cream, this circa 1964 Gibson SG electric guitar, known as Clapton's "Fool" guitar. Its estimate is $1 million to $2 million (£820,000-£1.64 million).

Also up for auction is a legendary guitar - the Skystang I - famously played by Kurt Cobain during Nirvana's 1993-1994 In Utero tour, with an estimated value of $1 million to $2 million (£820,000-£1.64 million). This left-handed Fender Mustang electric guitar, finished in blue, is the most extensively documented and recognisable of all the instruments Cobain played on stage.
