England wins the most medals at Hyrox World Championships 2024
It's officially coming home: England won the most gold, silver and bronze medals at the Hyrox World Championships this weekend, taking the lead for both the singles events (five gold, seven silver and five bronze) and overall (16 gold, 19 silver and 15 bronze).
Hyrox, the fastest-growing indoor fitness event worldwide, held the pinnacle of its season this year in Nice, France, with the top athletes in the global Hysociety battling it out for the title of Age Group World Champion.
What is Hyrox?
As a reminder, Hyrox is an 8km running race, split up by eight different functional movements:
1km ski-erg
50m sled push
50m sled pull
80m burpee broad jump
1km row
200m farmer's carry
100m sandbag lunge
100 wall balls
The event takes place in large indoor venues, and competitions are hosted throughout the year in different cities, from Melbourne to Singapore to Toronto.
In the Individual category, there are two divisions: Open and Pro, with Pro involving heavier weights. You can also compete in pairs (mixed or same sex) or in a relay (mixed or same-sex team of four).
The top 15 men and women of the Individual Pros comprise the Elite15. After making it through an Elite Race series, they then qualify to compete in the World Championships.
