Behind the scenes, Beth's long-term partner, Ian Kelsey, is also no stranger to Emmerdale, having portrayed Dave Glover, a former lover of Kim Tate, before his character met a fiery demise in 1997.

When Beth joined the show earlier this year, she said : "I'm delighted to be joining the cast of Emmerdale, it's an enormous privilege and Ruby is a dream role. She's a firecracker and a trouble-maker and I think people will love her or hate her, and I can't wait to get stuck in with this fabulous cast."

The actress’s much-needed break from social media comes after, up until recently, posting regularly on Instagram, taking to social media to share snippets of family life at home with her cat and answer fans’ burning questions about starring on the soap.

Elsewhere, former Emmerdale star Katherine Dow Blyton has this week shared what really happened behind the scenes when her character, Harriet Finch, was killed off from the show after nearly a decade, revealing that it left her “in tears”.
