Actors Emily Blunt and husband John Krasinski are determined to keep their children "oblivious" to their Hollywood stardom for as long as possible.

The actress, 38, said they were raising their young daughters – seven-year-old Hazel and four-year-old Violet – to "not feel any more important or special" than anyone else.

Speaking to The Sunday Times' Style magazine, Blunt said: "It’s a strange thing to navigate, you know.

"Because Hazel came home the other day and we were in the kitchen and she goes, ‘Are you famous?’ And I’d never heard her... we’ve never said that word in our house. We don’t talk about it."

Blunt – whose big break was in The Devil Wears Prada in 2006 – revealed that one of her daughter's schoolmates appeared to have made the comment, but that her eldest child wouldn't elaborate.

She said: "I don’t want my kids to feel any more important or special or that there's a glare on them any more than other kids. If they can remain oblivious for the longest time I’d be thrilled."

The star added: "They don't even like it when I put on make-up. They don't like any of it! They just want me to be their mummy."

She married fellow actor Krasinski – with whom she appeared in A Quiet Place and the upcoming A Quiet Place II – in 2010, after the pair met at a Los Angeles restaurant through a mutual friend.

The family moved to London due to European filming commitments, and stayed during the pandemic.

They live a matter of minutes from the home of her sister, the literary agent Felicity Blunt, who is married to actor Stanley Tucci.

Blunt revealed her kids play with her niece and nephew – six-year-old son Matteo and three-year-old daughter Emilia – and "love their English school".

Earlier this month, Jessica Biel revealed her son's very relaxed response to dad Justin Timberlake's famous work.

In an interview, the actress, 39, shared how their six-year-old, Silas, now recognises his musical hits.

However, speaking on US TV's The Tonight Show, she told host Jimmy Fallon: "Whenever he hears daddy's song he'll go, 'Oh yeah, that's Dad, no big deal, whatever.'"
