Emerald Fennell praised for 'super brave' fashion sense
Emerald Fennell is "super brave" when it comes to fashion, says her stylist and friend Colomba Giacomini.
The Promising Young Woman director wore a customised white organza gown by Roland Mouret for the British Academy Film Awards' virtual ceremony on Sunday, and Colomba loves working with Emerald because she's happy to push style boundaries.
"She's super brave," Colomba told Vogue.co.uk. "She loves clothes, I love clothes; she loves colour, I love colour; we love stuff on stuff on stuff. She's just so up for it."
The 35-year-old filmmaker stunned in the whimsical white creation, an adapted version of a look from Roland's A/W 20 collection, as she celebrated winning Best Original Screenplay as well as Outstanding British Film for Promising Young Woman, starring Carey Mulligan, at the BAFTAs.
Roland revealed he had a clear vision when it came to the dramatic draped gown.
"I created a custom version in a white chevron organza," the designer explained. "It has this great ethereal quality, yet it's protective like a shield, as (it has) 10 metres of fabric, draped and swathed around the body."
Colomba requested the gown for Emerald after The Crown star wore a pink version for a previous photoshoot and "felt amazing" in it.
"She loved it," Colomba said. "It was beautiful, ethereal and whimsical."
Emerald teamed the gown with jewellery by her father, Theo Fennell.
