Ellie Goulding has spoken about living apart from her husband, Caspar Jopling, explaining that she “loves” being her own company.

The couple have been married for 11 months and had been isolating together in Oxfordshire but they have recently decided to live separately.

Goulding is living in London while Jopling, who works as an art dealer, is studying in Oxford.

When asked whether or not she minds living apart, Goulding replied “No I love it!”

“I love my husband – but I also love myself,” the 33-year-old told The Mirror.

"I can read a book. I can go for a run, I can eat messily. So it’s really great that you can have a partner that you don’t have to be with 24/7 – even when you’re married.”

Goulding, who met Jopling through their mutual friend, Princess Beatrice, continued by revealing that the couple give each other gifts.

“He built me a cover for my cat litter tray,” she said.

“And he always buys me flowers. I was driving down the motorway in my electric car and I found a little rose in the glovebox.”

The singer’s comments come after she opened up about being “addicted” to exercise.

“I don’t consider myself to have an addictive personality but I felt as though I did at one point have a gym addiction that was just not fun,” she told The Sun.

Goulding added that the problem was particularly bad when she was on tour.

“I don’t know whether it was a survival thing, because touring was so tiring, so hard, really taxing on your body and your mental health.”

Now, however, she said she has a “healthier diet” and is taking an interest in “biohacking” which she described as “trying to be the healthiest version of yourself you can possibly be”.
