Chef Tom Kerridge has shared a recipe for a three-ingredient air fryer meal that he swears by after his 12-stone weight loss.

Speaking to Men's Health Magazine about a typical dish he makes at home, the Great British Menu star said: "There may be one evening a week that I’m back in time to do tea for my son. It’s very simple, [so something like] new potatoes, some chicken pieces and broccoli that’s been roasted in an air fryer.

Tom's meal offers health benefits that can be enjoyed as part of a balanced diet, according to Gloucestershire Live.

Good Food magazine said cooking potatoes in their skins retains fibre and some important nutrients like potassium, magnesium, zinc and iron. Chicken is highly nutritious and a good source of protein, while Healthline lists the many health benefits broccoli offers from its vitamins and minerals, to strengthening the immune system.

Tom, who has lost 12 stone over several years, regularly hits the gym and eats a varied diet. Giving an insight into some of his choices, the chef said his lunches usually consist of a salad or a protein-based choice.

Tom says it isn't always easy to have a set food plan or routine however as his schedule is "chaotic".

"It might be a packet of pork scratchings and a bottle of water from a garage because I’m driving somewhere," he added.

The Great British Menu star achieved his weight loss in various different ways. At first, he took up swimming and now focuses on weight lifting at the gym.

Additionally, the chef swapped out unhealthy habits for healthier choices, such as cutting down on alcohol and following "a dopamine diet".

Speaking to Reach PLC, Tom said: "So that was all lower carb and using higher proteins and good quality fruit and vegetables. That then helps release dopamine levels, that make you feel happy about what you're eating."

Most importantly, Tom says the best choice of diet is eating "proper food". By that, he means "not ultra-processed, the highest quality that you can afford".

"Eat vegetables and eat protein, and cook them nicely, that's the best way, just a balanced and complete diet using proper produce," he added.
