EastEnders star makes dramatic exit just months after joining BBC soap
EastEnders star Alan Ford will leave Walford in the next episode (Thursday 11 July), just months after joining the soap as Stevie Mitchell - but he doesn’t leave empty handed.
Stevie showed his true Mitchell colours by pulling off a sneaky revenge plot before fleeing Albert Square.
After a confrontation with Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden), Stevie asks Big Mo (Laila Morse) to do him a favour. And it becomes clear when Phil is furious to discover his car is missing and calls the police.
Stevie asks Billy Mitchell (Perry Fenwick) if he can say goodbye to his grandchildren and slips an envelope containing £20,000 on the side, as well as a photo of him with Billy and his brother Charlie.
Phil reports his car stolen and rages at the local police officers: “Look, it’s someone from around here and if you don’t go around knocking on the doors, I will.”
Meanwhile, Stevie looks out of the taxi window smirking before telling the driver to “put his foot down” and he leaves Walford in the back of a black cab.
The episode will air on BBC One tomorrow (11 July), but is available to watch now on BBC iPlayer.
Stevie made his EastEnders debut in January 2024 for the funeral of Sal Martin. He later returned in April to make amends with his estranged son, Billy.
They made progress, but the family were completely floored when Stevie revealed to Billy that his mother, Val, had died many years ago. With Billy distraught, Stevie was urged to leave by his younger son Teddy (Roland Manookian).
There are still plenty of Mitchells in Albert Square though, including Billy’s half-brother Teddy Mitchell, played by Roland, who confessed in an exclusive interview with OK! that he was thrilled to be joining the EastEnders family.
“If you were to say to me nine months ago that I’d be joining EastEnders, I wouldn’t have believed you,” says Roland. “It’s first and foremost a great honour to join the show – EastEnders is such an institution. I feel really, really lucky.”
Teddy is joined by his two sons, Harry (Elijah Holloway) and Barney (Lewis Bridgeman). The three new Mitchells visit Teddy’s dad, Stevie Mitchell (Alan Ford) and ultimately decide to stick around in Walford.
Roland added: “It’s very strange to be their dad on-screen – I still feel like a 25-year-old,” he says, laughing. “I hope if they look up to me that I’m not a disappointment!”
