EastEnders fans spot ‘the real villain’ behind Nish’s revenge plot - and it’s not who you think
EastEnders began 2025 with a dramatic episode on New Year’s Day that ended with the fate of three characters up in the air following the actions of sinister Nish. However, fans have decided that he’s not the true villain of the show at the moment, and that honour should go to his grandson, Nugget.
Nugget, as played by Juhaim Rasul Choudhury, has been helping to hide his grandfather in a derelict flat since Nish (Navin Chowdhry) escaped from prison. While he couldn’t have known that Nish’s plan was to poison his ex-wife Suki’s fiancee Eve (Heather Peace) on their wedding day, Nugget must have suspected his grandfather was up to something and was likely to pull some sort of stunt on the big day, yet he didn’t attempt to stop him.
Through Nugget’s inaction, Nish was able to poison Eve’s champagne and she collapsed in the honeymoon suite in front of Suki (Balvinder Sopal). Nish then turned up to reveal he had poisoned her, and in the ensuing fight in which he tried to convince Suki they were meant to be together, he grabbed Suki’s saree and the pair both fell from the room’s balcony.

Viewers rushed to social media to point out that Nugget was just as much a villain as his grandfather in the episode. One wrote: “Can we all agree that the real villain in all of this is this little plonker Nugget right here,” and fans were quick to agree. Another said: “I think he’s going to grow up to be like Nish, remember how he treated Amy when she didn’t like him,” while a third commented: “His future is bright as a villain.” A fourth suggested a new role for Nugget: “Now that I’d like to see him taking over from his grandad as a forever villain.”
Some viewers were more sympathetic, with one writing: “Typical case of grooming… manipulated by his grandfather… boy has been through a lot. Nish played him and for most part probably scared him.” A second agreed: “He was groomed by someone he loved who was very good at it.”
Following Nish’s actions, his fate and that of Suki and Eve, is still to be revealed, though fans think they have already figured it out. One wrote: "Nish looks gone but Eve and Suki as well? Potentially triple deaths, all in one episode was something I wasn't expecting." A second shared: "Maybe nish is the reason that suki survives because she lands on top of him." While a third noted: "Suki will be ok, she did a Lauren and had a soft landing."
Another fan asked: "Eve and Suki survive right? Right?!" while a viewer replied: "No way they’re killing off Eve."
