EastEnders fans in frenzy over mystery proposal episode as they name couple

EastEnders are lining up a couple to get wed in an upcoming episode of the BBC soap, and it will coincide with a visit from a popstar.

Olly Alexander - best known as the frontman of band Years and Years - will be joining the soap for a one-off episode prior to his appearance in the Eurovision Song Contest where he’ll be performing his song ‘Dizzy’.

Olly will stop in at the Queen Vic after rehearsing where he meets an old friend Johnny Carter (played by Charlie Suff).

During Olly’s arrival, one character decides to pop the all important question to their partner after getting carried away by the celeb appearance and celebrations. However, what we don’t know is who the couple is, or what the answer will be!

OK! has put together the most likely couples to tie the knot in EastEnders this year.

Sonia Fowler and Reiss Colwell

Sonia (Natalie Cassidy) and Reiss (Jonny Freeman) are at the top of our list considering they are now expecting a baby. After going through multiple rounds of IVF, Reiss was thrilled to hear Sonia was pregnant - so could he pop the question?

There is however one thing standing in their way, Reiss is still married. His wife, Debbie, is currently in a coma after suffering a stroke. The only way Reiss and Sonia could marry is if Reiss filed for divorce.

Whitney Dean and Zack Hudson

Speaking of pregnancy, Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty) is currently pregnant with Zack Hudson’s (James Farrar) child.

The pair haven’t had the easiest time after losing their first baby, Peach, in March 2023. And they are currently looking after Britney Wainwright (Lola Campbell). However Whitney has lied about being her official foster mum.

Meanwhile, Zack has had a kiss with Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa). Both characters are hiding huge secrets from each other, so while it seems like their relationship is on the rocks, Zack could try and save it by asking Whitney to marry him.

Suki Panesar and Eve Unwin

This couple are possibly the pair that viewers would love to see marry on EastEnders. Fans have been rooting for these two since their very first kiss.

And they have been through a lot considering Suki’s (Balvinder Sopal) escape attempt from her abusive marriage to Nish Panesar (Navin Chowdhry). But finally Suki and Eve (Heather Peace).

With Olly being an LGBTQ+ advocate, could it be the perfect opportunity for one of them to put a ring on it?

Jean Slater and Harvey Monroe

Jean (Gillian Wright) and Harvey (Ross Boatman) have been flying under the radar recently, but the couple have gone from strength to strength.

Unlike some of the other couples, very little has gone wrong in their relationship so these two are strong contenders. And let’s face it, everyone would love to see a Slater wedding.

Ian and Cindy Beale

If these two get engaged there could be a major disaster pending as Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) has been getting closer, and even kissed her former flame George Knight (Colin Salmon).

It’s obvious Ian is smitten with Cindy, so could he be the one to ask the big question in an attempt to keep her away from her ex-husband?

Patrick and Yolande Trueman

They’ve been married before and their reunion on-screen brought joy to everyone. But Yolande (Angela Wynter) has been going through a terrible ordeal with Pastor Clayton (Howard Saddler).

While Patrick is yet to learn about what Pastor Clayton has done, he is aware that Yolande has been acting strangely.

Could Patrick get down on one knee to try to keep Yolande close?

EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
