EastEnders’ April Branning star has new role alongside Strictly star - 28 years after soap
EastEnders actress Debbie Arnold has landed herself a new TV role, 28 years since she exited Albert Square for good. The star portrayed Alice Branning in EastEnders from 1995 until 1996. Alice is the sister of Carol, Max, Jack, Derek and Suzy Branning, and daughter of Jim and Reenie. While she's been mentioned on occasion over the years, Alice has never returned to Walford after fleeing to Greece with husband Nikos.
Actress Debbie, 69, is no stranger to soapland and has also starred in Coronation Street, Emmerdale, Hollyoaks and Doctors. Her other TV credits include Holby City, The Bill, Birds of a Feather, and All Creatures Great and Small. Titled Beauty Investigates, the show sees the two stars, alongside Thunderbirds star Dee Anderson and actress Natalie Ogle, explored new beauty trends and treatments. The team interview experts and discover new brands, while discussing all things beauty. The show airs on Sky, Ayzat online and YouTube.
The EastEnders star said of Beauty Investigates: “I’m so excited to co-host Beauty Investigates with my lovely friend, Debbie McGee. I’ve always wanted to find out more about treatments and how they work, and even though I searched online, there was never anything that was completely impartial.
"So, I decided to create a show about it! I’m thrilled that our investigators, Dee Anderson and Natalie Ogle, are helping us find out answers from aesthetic practitioners.”
Her co-star Debbie, 66, has also been in the spotlight for many years, and many will recognise her as the assistant and widow of late magician Paul Daniels. She is a former ballet dancer and previously ran her own ballet company.
Debbie is a radio presenter and a regular on the Loose Women panel, but many will remember her from Strictly Come Dancing. She was a finalist in the 2017 series and won the 2019 Christmas Special.
She's no stranger to reality TV either, having appeared in titles including Wife Swap, The X Factor: Battle of the Stars, Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway, Come Dine With Me, Barging Loving Celebs, Celebrity Antiques Road Trip as well as Celebrity MasterChef.
