East-West bags are trending – here are the 10 best to shop now
You may have heard of East-West engagement rings – an Art Deco favourite popularised recently by Zendaya, who received the style from fiancé Tom Holland when he popped the question – but what about East-West bags? The long and horizontal style is everywhere right now with Alaïa's wildly popular Le Teckel leading the charge – and it would make a very modern addition to your new-season wardrobe.
"The East-West style bag can be seen as a modern take on the Nineties and early Noughties Baguette," says Kay Barron, Net-a-Porter's fashion director. "The bag features an elongated, horizontal body and it is typically characterised by long, thin, structured straps that are usually positioned on the centre of the bag."
It is impossible not to talk about the Le Teckel with this particular silhouette which launched just last year but is already becoming what we would characterise as a Modern Icon. The style now comes in various colourways and fabrics, with the brown suede proving particularly popular with show attendees this London Fashion Week. But, brands including Khaite, Magda Butrym and Osoi have also tapped into the trend with beautiful bags in this same silhouette. Meanwhile, Jil Sander, Bottega Veneta and Prada have also embraced the skinny, horizontal bag, albeit with less dramatic straps.
"This style of bag is so easy to wear and the sleek design adds an elegant touch," Barron says of why the bag has found such appeal. "It is so versatile and effortlessly transitions from day to night. The timeless silhouette is not only practical but also multipurpose with the long straps being incredibly comfortable on your shoulder. The structured straps give a polished look and the bag’s slim shape makes it perfect for accessorising."

Le Teckel
Undoubtedly the bag that kickstarted this particular trend, Alaïa's Le Teckel has fast become one of 2025's favourite bags. We love it in this patent black hue, but there are a number of colourways and fabrics to choose from, all of which will take you from day to night with ease.
Simona
Surprisingly spacious, Khaite's Simona bag is an excellent investment if you want something that works both for everyday and into the evening. We'd recommend one of the toned-down hues for versatility, but the snakeskin style is great for a bit of impact.
Boat
Korean label Osoi is a great name to know for mid-range designer accessories – and its Boat bag (which comes in different sizes and lots of colours) taps into the East-West bag trend perfectly.
Pochette
If you want more of a handy clutch style, Savette's Pochette is another fashion editor-favourite, and we particularly love this burgundy suede style for teaming with a little black dress or a white shirt and tailored trousers.
Brigitte
Magda Butrym has put her spin on the East-West bag with her Brigitte style, an elegant leather shoulder bag with her trademark rose detail.
New York
Royal-favourite Demellier has launched a smaller and skinnier version of its beloved New York tote – a beautiful leather shoulder bag with gold hardware that is the perfect size for day to day.
Cannolo
Jil Sander's Cannolo bag is a sleek and minimal offering that perfectly ticks off the trend, but you can also adjust the shoulder strap length, meaning you can wear it in multiple ways.
Bonnie
The smallest version of Prada's new Bonnie bag is an excellent take on the East-West trend with its patent leather finish and soft silhouette.
Eastside mini
A great affordable way to tap into the East-West bag trend is with this mini bowling bag from Cos.
Long Andiamo
Bottega Veneta's cult Long Andiamo is another clutch option. The bag has become a favourite in recent months thanks to its long and elegant silhouette.
