“I’m real excited,” said Elle Pollard, milkshake winner and 8th grader from Lindale Junior High School.

The Yard Milkshake Bar, dedicated to making over-the-top milkshakes, accepts shake ideas from customers.

“They wanted people to start submitting, but nobody was submitting them, Mrs. King said, and so she wanted to like reintroduce it,” said Cenzlee Carroll, an 8th grader from Lindale Junior High School.

Donna King, the student’s art teacher, decided to challenge her students to come up with the best milkshake.

“It’s awesome, and it shows that art can do anything, really, and that we’re not just a class,” said Kaylea Williams, 8th grader, Lindale Junior High School.

Pollard was one of the 31 teenagers to create a milkshake. The 14-year-old was inspired by one of her favorite desserts.

“I really love cannolis, so I was like what goes with that, so I was like the Holy Cannoli, and then I just added stuff that I thought would sound good with cannolis,” said Pollard.

Her father also got in on the fun, helping her come up with the name The Godfather Holy Cannoli.

“He was like, The Godfather is also like an Italian movie, and so he was like, cannolis are Italian, and so you can incorporate that,” said Pollard.

It’s a milkshake filled with all things chocolate and cannoli on top, and it became a fan favorite quickly. Now, it will be on their menu across the country in June.

“And I’m grateful,” said Pollard.

Classmate Charlie Morgan came in second with her frosted cookie shake, and she can’t wait to try it.

“I might make it myself at my house to see what it tastes like, but I hope they do, maybe look at it more like look at it for ideas for different shakes and stuff,” said Charli Morgan, second place, 8th grader, Lindale Junior High School.

Elle said the process was fun and she can’t wait for everyone to taste her creation. It was announced Tuesday that Elle’s milkshake “Holy Cannoli” will be featured at all 29 of their locations in June.
