These £6 Dunelm placemats were the talk of my dinner party
As part of my decision to embrace more colour this year, and upgrade my interiors to reflect my own personal style, I decided to refresh my usual tablescape and purchase a pair of hot pink, embroidered placemats. For me, the days of beige table runners, rattan placemats and basic coasters are long gone. Instead, I'm invested in making purchases that will make me smile and brighten up my day. And as funny as it might sound, these placemats from Dunelm do just that.
After being on my wish list for quite some time, I decided to snap them up for my New Year's Eve celebrations, where I was hosting a few friends over for dinner. And let's just say, they've become a permanent fixture on my dining table ever since.
Available from Dunelm for a mega affordable price of just £6 for a set of two, they've garnered a number of positive reviews from shoppers: "gorgeous placemats", "stunning vibrant placemats that make a real statement", and "bold, fun and look great".
Not to mention, they're hugely more affordable than pretty much any other options out there right now. H&M's similar version costs £9.99 per placemat, while other more luxury designs go up to £120 for a set of four.

💸 Reasons to buy
If, like me, you're someone that likes to incorporate colour into their home by adding in a splash here and there, then these playful placemats are a great place to start. Simple in design, they feature an embroidered scalloped edge and are made from recycled cotton and polyester for a soft finish.
The two opposite shades of pink complement each other beautifully, and look great against any backdrop. I also purchased a blue check Gingham Dining Table Runner (£10) from Dunelm to complete the look.
At first, I wasn't quite sure whether they would go well with my farmhouse-style pine dining table (a Facebook Marketplace find from early last year), but they ended up pairing perfectly. The placemats give an otherwise classic style choice a touch of charm and character, without being *too* much.
As for the actual quality of the placemats, they feel first-class and a lot more expensive than they actually are. Something that's also been noticed by a number of other shoppers: "good quality dupe", "such a good price" and "much cheaper than other stores".
I can't speak on how well these placemats wash, but Dunelm say that they are machine washable on a delicate setting.
✋ Reasons to avoid
If you're a traditionalist, have more of a minimalist style or are generally just not one for pops of colour, then these placements are not for you.
