The Duchess of Cambridge has made her second appearance in 24 hours, attending the Place2Be Headteacher Conference in London this afternoon to make a rare public speech.

The 33-year-old arrived looking as elegant as always in a grey, form-fitting dress by British designer Matthew Williamson.

Featuring a peplum waist and embellishments at the neck and cuffs, the dress is a favourite of the royal and has been worn by her before – back in 2012.

She accessorised with only a simple pair of gold pave diamond earrings by Kiki McDonough and carried a black suede clutch.

The Duchess picked the wrong day to leave her long locks loose, as the blustery weather made it difficult for her to keep her ‘do under control.

But as chic as she is, Kate managed to stay looking chic and amazingly un-windswept.

The mum-of-two doesn’t have a whole lot of practice with public speeches but has reportedly been coached on carrying them out in the last few months.

Today, she spoke about child mental health – an issue that she raises a lot of awareness for – and spoke about her own “wonderful and secure” childhood with the Middleton clan.

Admitting she was “lucky” to boast such supportive parents, she did acknowledge that even those who come from “stable, happy homes” can suffer from emotional issues later in life.

“I often get asked why I decided to spend time highlighting the mental health of children,” she said.

“I imagine my answer might be similar to many of yours. I know that I was lucky. My parents and teachers provided me with a wonderful and secure childhood where I always knew I was loved, valued and listened to.

“But of course many children are not so lucky. Since beginning my work in areas like addiction, for example, I have seen time and time again that the roots of poor mental health in adulthood are almost always present in unresolved childhood challenges.”
