The Duchess of Edinburgh puts a modern spin on a classic suit
The Duchess of Edinburgh put a modern spin on a classic suit on Thursday (26 September) as she attended the opening of a new winery in Kent.
Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh opted for what could have been a traditional grey check suit with a double breasted jacket, by luxury brand Vince. Instead, the boxy shoulders and looser fit of the blazer, paired with wider, straight-leg trousers gave the look a slightly more undone, and modern feel.
Adding a blue blouse with a rounded collar (rather than the classic angled shirt collar) also contributed to the fresh, and slightly less formal feel overall. Sophie accessorised with a clutch bag in the same grey and injected a subtle line of colour through a selection of delicate bracelets.
Sophie was attending the opening of the Domaine Evremond Winery, a new English sparking wine producer in Canterbury, England, which was founded by Pierre-Emmanuel Taittinger (of the Champagne Taittinger) and Patrick McGrath of Hatch Mansfield.
During the visit, Sophie was taken to view the vines alongside Patrick McGrath and had a chance to sample the English sparkling wine, ahead of the brand's first edition of Domaine Evremond 'Classic Cuvée' which is set to be release for Spring 2025.
The Duchess also unveiled a plaque bearing her name to commemorate the occasion in the grounds of the wine estate.
