The Duchess of Cambridge visited an important exhibition at the Imperial War Museum
The Duchess of Cambridge visited the Imperial War Museum in London yesterday (9 November) for an important exhibition.
The Generations: Portraits of the Holocaust exhibition features portraits of survivors along with their families and more than 50 are displayed at the museum.
The Duchess went to see the exhibition and reconnect with two survivors, Zigi and Manfred, who she has met on previous occasions.
The Duchess first met the pair in 2017 and spoke with them again on holocaust Memorial Day earlier this year. Both Zigi and Manfred appear in the exhibition.
In a post on the official Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s account, a caption explained that Kate’s, “visit to the ‘Generations: Portraits of the Holocaust’ exhibition at the Imperial War Museum brought back many memories of incredible people that The Duchess has met and poignant stories that she has heard in recent years.”
While in Cumbria this September, Kate heard stories of the Windermere Children, a group of children who were brought to Cumbria to help them recuperate after their experiences in concentration camps and parts of Nazi Occupied Europe. Some of the Windermere Children are also featured in the exhibition.
Photographs of the Duchess’ visit were shared on social media and the official account said that, “The Duchess is honoured to be part of the exhibition,” and expressed thanks to The Imperial War Museum and Royal Photographic Society for, “displaying this important project. It’s vital these stories live on for younger generations.”
