The Duchess of Cambridge celebrated her 40th birthday yesterday, marking the occasion with the release of three stunning new portraits.

Taken by renowned photographer Paolo Roversi at Kew’s Royal Botanic Gardens, back in November, the photographs show Kate as we’ve never seen her before.

The Duchess is pictured wearing three beautiful bespoke dresses which were made by her favourite designer Sarah Burton, Creative Director of Alexander McQueen, who also designed Kate’s wedding dress.

In one colour portrait, the mum-of-three is pictured wearing a stunning one-shouldered red satin gown, with her hands in pockets and her hair curled to reveal diamond earrings she borrowed from the Queen.

The other two images are black and white, and show Kate smiling into the camera wearing a ruffled white gown. The silk and tulle dress and was crafted from pieces of fabric from previous collections in a bid to be sustainable.

In the final shot, the Duchess wears an ethereal off-the-shoulder flowing gown, with diamond and pearl earrings that belonged to Diana, Princess of Wales.

Kate also shared a heartfelt personal message on the Cambridges’ official Instagram account that read, "Thank you for all of your very kind birthday wishes, and to Paolo and the National Portrait Gallery for these three special portraits. C.”

Photographer Paolo has shared how honoured he was to have been involved with the project, saying, “Taking the portrait of Her Royal Highness, The Duchess of Cambridge, was a true honour for me, and a moment of pure joy.

"I was moved by her warmth and friendly welcome and enchanted by her shining eyes that reflected the loveliness of her soul and her smile showing the generosity of her heart.

"It was a profound and rich experience for me, an unforgettable moment. I have met a wonderful person, a person who, with her positive energy, can bring hope to the whole world."

It's rumoured that Kate might have a joint celebration with Prince William in June, when he turns 40, after postponing plans for a grand party this weekend due to rising cases of Covid. Either way, we're sure William and the children spoilt Kate rotten yesterday.
