Drew Barrymore Reveals How She Plans to Celebrate Her 50th Birthday
Drew Barrymore is entering a new era, and she's celebrating it with two people she loves most in the world.
The Drew Barrymore Show host is turning 50 years old on February 22, and she recently spoke out about what entering a new decade of life means to her. Appearing on the cover of Us Weekly on February 12, Drew explained she has a low-key plan for how she's ringing in her birthday. She explained she was tapping into her inner child by throwing herself a giant sleepover — and her two guests will be none other than her daughters, Frankie and Olive (whom she shares with ex-husband Will Kopelman).
"We’re the three sardines, and we’ll get into our can," she told the outlet. "I’ve always spent the night with them on my birthday and their birthdays. We have a tradition, so I’m doing a night or two of sleepovers leading up, and then I’m doing a sleepover with my daughters on my 50th. But the whole theme of the 50th birthday is sleepovers. Sleepovers should never go away."
Well, that sounds like the perfect way to mark a momentous occasion. But that's not all Drew said about her big plans.
The 50 First Dates star is using turning 50 as a time to reflect on her past, and all the work she put into bettering herself in her 40s helped her achieve the bliss she's experiencing in all areas of her life.
"I never feel like something’s missing," she added. "I was so capable of having fun and experiencing joy, but I don’t know if I was happy. There’s such a big difference, and now I’m actually happy. This decade has truly helped me find ways into choosing happiness, and I have to choose it every day over and over again."
If Drew's comments about entering a new decade weren't enough, she also made sure her social media followers knew of her feelings on the subject. Posting a behind-the-scenes Instagram of her waiting to film The Drew Barrymore Show, she shared how she's finally experiencing a form of inner peace.
"Getting older is as wonderful as it sounds," she wrote on February 10.
We love to see it!
