Dr. Maggie Aderin-Pocock discussed her surprise when honoured with her very own Barbie doll during a talk at Good Housekeeping Live, in partnership with Dyson.

Back in March this year (2023), Dr, Maggie Aderin-Pocock, known for her work as a space scientist and work with the largest space telescope ever made, was nominated by toy creator Mattel as a 'Barbie role model.'

Dr. Maggie was awarded the Barbie to mark International Women's Day and British Science Week, and to celebrate how many young women she has inspired to pursue careers in science.

The BBC The Sky At Night presenter revealed in the talk: "I was gobsmacked to be made into a Barbie...The thing is when I was growing up Barbies just didn't look like me."

The one of a kind Barbie doll was designed with a blue starry night dress and a telescope accessory, as a nod to her work on the James Webb Space Telescope.

Alongside discussing her own Barbie doll, Dr. Maggie also spoke about her love for space and how she would like to retire on Mars.

In the talk, Dr. Maggie touches on sending people out to live on Mars in the future and how she would love to one day go out there.

The star even joked in the talk and said that: "Mars is actually my retirement plan...my plan is just to go and spend the rest of my days on Mars when I can."

Dr. Maggie is a wonderful inspiration to women today.
