Meghan Markle‘s mother, Doria Ragland, is said to be ‘very happy’ she’s about to become a grandmother for the first time. Meghan is Doria’s only child.

A palace spokesman said: “Ms Doria Ragland is very happy about the lovely news and she looks forward to welcoming her first grandchild.”

They added: “The Queen, Duke of Edinburgh, Prince of Wales, duchess of Cornwall and Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted for the couple and were able to congratulate them on Friday at the wedding in person.”

So far, there’s no news on Thomas Markle‘s reaction.

Doria, 62, lives in California and sees her daughter when possible. She visited the UK last month and attended the launch of Meghan’s new charity cookbook.

Doria greeted guests at the launch, by saying: ‘Hi, I’m Meg’s mom.’

The event marked Doria’s first public engagement since attending her daughter’s wedding on May 19.

Doria was seen attending nannying classes in California last month, sparking rumours of Meghan’s pregnancy. There were also rumours she may move to London.

Meghan’s half-sister, Samantha Markle, who’s usually fairly reactive, hasn’t yet responded to the news publicly.
