Donald Glover Wore a Monochromatic Fear of God Look to the ‘Mr. & Mrs. Smith’ Premiere
Donald Glover may be playing a spy on TV, but in real life, he can’t help but stand out.
The American actor, singer, and comedian attended the New York premiere of his new espionage series Mr. & Mrs. Smith on Tuesday wearing the latest designs from Fear of God (FOG). His fresh-off-the-runway style featured a gabardine lapel-less blazer in a neutral “dune” shade draped over a crepe T-shirt. Matching suits pants and a gabardine cummerbund complimented the look, alongside olive leather western boots—all direct from FOG’s Collection 8, titled “American Symphony.”

Designer Jerry Lorenzo staged his first Fear of God runway show in Los Angeles last spring. But the collection’s sophisticated pieces didn’t become available until this Friday. Styles range from tops and bottoms to footwear and accessories with a unisex vibe. Lapel-less alpaca wool overcoats are a standout among the outerwear, plus a luxurious shearling overcoat. The collection’s lapel-less suiting, including the one one worn by Glover’s, also offers an unconventional twist in styling.
Elsewhere in the collection are high-neck sweaters with wide horizontal ribbing and wool boucle jacquard knits—reminiscent of Lorenzo’s Essentials line—that are ideal for layering. An assortment of high-end basic tees and tanks rounds out the pieces, as well as one denim button-up that brings the brand’s history with the material into the modern day.
The collection’s accessories effortlessly complement its timeless apparel. Leather driver glovers, handmade in Italy, for the Fall 2024 season are available in up to seven colors. A taupe visor, six-panel baseball caps, leather backpacks, rope belts, and stylish tote bags with leather shoulder straps are a few other pieces round out the collection.
The lineup was inspired by “a robust mix of influences spanning the experiences of Jerry Lorenzo’s individual American perspective and journey,” according to the collection notes.
Glover, too, will going on an adventure in his latest role. The new action-packed series tells the tale of John (Glover) and Jane (Maya Erskine), two strangers who land jobs with a spy agency that leads them to a life of espionage, luxury, and travel. And, yes, you have heard the show’s name before: The thriller actually a modern adaptation of the 2005 flick Mr. & Mrs. Smith, which stars Hollywood icons Angeline Jolie and Brad Pitt. You can stream the pilot episode now on Amazon Prime Video.
Thankfully, you can also shop Fear of God’s Collection 8 now via the brand’s website and Mr Porter; prices range from $250 to $16,995. With any luck, you’ll look just as suave as Glover.
