No kitchen is complete without it.

I put an OXO 6-inch scraper and chopper (also known as a bench scraper), in my son’s stocking for Christmas. He meal preps, and I thought he’d get a lot of use out of it. When he unwrapped it, he had no idea what it was. I told him he could use it to scrape up the veggies he chopped and put them in the pan quickly and easily. He didn’t use it much—that is until two months ago when he got what seems to be the “it” grill of the summer: a Blackstone Griddle Grill.

Now that he’s sautéing tons of veggies on the grill each week, he sees how useful the bench scraper is. In a matter of months it looks like it’s been used for decades. He even uses it to break up ground beef he cooks and to move it around the griddle.

The OXO stainless steel scraper costs $12, which isn’t bad for something that gets used so often. But now, Dollar Tree has its own version that’s just $1.25. But how does it stack up against the more expensive version? I found out.

Why We Love Dollar Tree’s $1.25 Stainless Steel Chopper & Bench Scraper

The only visible difference in design between Dollar Tree’s and OXO’s more expensive version is the handle; OXO’s features a non-slip grip handle, while the Dollar Tree version sports a sturdy metal handle.

I always check reviews on products I’m looking at, and I was impressed with the 4.5-star rating from 35 customer reviews. Reviewers rave that the dishwasher-safe Dollar Tree bench scraper is the “best ever,” writing, “OMG I love this thing!,” and it has “many uses.” And those ”many uses” include more than transporting chopped veggies from the cutting board or off the griddle once cooked.

One reviewer says it’s a “very inexpensive cutter for hand-crafted soaps. Works perfectly!” Another uses it for cutting homemade marshmallows. The scraper is “very sturdy,” according to another baker in the reviews. They even prefer the Dollar Tree scraper to the more expensive Wilton version as a frosting tool for cakes. This scraper seems like one of Dollar Tree’s best bargains, right?

And while we already have a bench scraper in the house, I may be heading to Dollar Tree to grab more. One reviewer even mentioned using them to block the wind on either side of a 36” Blackstone Griddle. I’ll have to ask my son if he wants two more—and at $1.25 a piece, he won’t even need to wait until Christmas to get them.
