Doja Cat is body-painted in red with 30,000 Swarovski crystals for Paris Fashion Week: 'Mesmerising'
Doja Cat was a vision in red as she attended the Schiaparelli fashion show kicking off Haute Couture Fashion Week on Monday.
The 'Woman' singer arrived at the Petit Palais museum in Paris, where the show hosted several famous faces from across the arts and fashion, in a vibrant red ensemble by the French fashion house that covered her from head to toe.
Creative director Daniel Roseberry kickstarted the Spring 2023 couture season with a visual spectacle, inspired by Dante Alighieri’s Inferno and the nine circles of hell — a metaphor for the “doubt and creative torment all artists experience,” according to the show notes.
Doja Cat – real name Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini – extended the idea of sculpture and wearable art into the front row with her scarlet look, which saw her skin covered in red paint and Swarovski crystals.
Working with legendary make-up artist Pat McGrath, the singer sat for nearly five hours to be adorned with 30,000 crimson Swarovski crystals for a “shimmering, scintillating and subversive look”.

Such a pleasure working with the gorgeous @DojaCat and the amazing @DanielRoseberry on the ‘Doja’s Inferno’ look for @Schiaparelli’s FW23 Haute Couture collection,” McGrath wrote on her Instagram.
“Doja’s sublime patience during the 4 hours and 58 minutes it took to create the look with #TeamPatMcGrath, which was covered in over 30,000 hand-applied @swarovski Crystals, was inspiring.
“The final product was a magical, mesmerising masterpiece of sparkling brilliance.”

The layers of red paint and red crystals covered the Kiss Me More hitmaker from head to her chest, where the Schiaparelli dress started. Its structured bodice came up to the chest, whilst its bold, 3D sculpturesque skirt sat just above the knee.
Elsewhere, Kylie Jenner arrived in a lion head-adorned dress, also featured on the catwalk, which was highly criticised by fans even though the animal heads were made from foam.
