A dog has found a forever home after spending 420 days at a shelter.

Faya, a female 4-year-old mixed breed, is described in her adoption listing as a "gorgeous and ever so lovely" dog with "the most beautiful soft brown eyes, a striking colorful coat and the cutest flop over ears."

After spending more than a year at Iowa’s Humane Society of Scott County in hopes of finding an owner, her dreams finally came true, as the shelter announced that she found a "best friend."

"It’s official … Faya, our longest resident, has been adopted after 420 days of living in the shelter! 🥹 To say our staff and volunteers were overjoyed is an understatement," the shelter wrote in a June 19 post on Facebook.

"We’ve given her so much love and care over the many months she was here and this is the moment we were all waiting for. She finally gets to sleep in a home of her own 💕," the shelter added.

The post included a sweet photo of Faya and her new owner smiling.

Her adoption comes nearly two months after the shelter shared her story in a reel that now has attracted more than 14,000 views.

"Faya has been here over a year, and if we wait for the 'perfect' home, she’s never going to leave the shelter because perfect homes don't exist. But that’s okay because our dogs aren’t looking for "perfect" homes, they’re just looking for someone to give them a second chance at life. Someone who will love them and care for them,” the post read.
