Diplo Shares the Exercises He Uses to Stay in Jet-Set Shape
IF YOU'RE TRAVELING through a major airport with time to kill, take a moment to stop and check out the fitness facility. You'll have a chance to get a sweat on while most of your fellow travelers are munching on overpriced terminal snacks or pacing mindless laps around their gates — and you might just run into one of the world's most popular DJs.
Diplo, who also includes producer and musician in his catalogue of titles, says he travels 300 days out of the year. While he's on the road (or more accurately, jetting across the sky), he uses airport gyms as a resource to stay consistent with his workouts. ‘Somehow, I always make time to always train once a day, sweat once a day,’ he recently told the MH crew when he was briefly on the ground in New York City.
He does have some go-to spots when he has more time and space to exercise, either at home in Malibu or at some of his most frequent stops in his touring schedule. When he pauses long enough to get a full training session in, he loves to box and surf—but also takes on functional strength and mobility work. He's found that staying in shape pays off, whether he's pulling from his energy reserves for a long run of performances or trekking six miles out of Burning Man with Chris Rock.
Diplo took the time to show us some of his favorite exercises, from a move that impressed model Kate Moss to an L-sit series that allowed him to regain his shoulder health after a labrum tear.
