Dick and Angel Strawbridge announce exciting news
Escape to the Chateau stars Dick and Angel Strawbridge have released some exciting news: their new TV series, Secret France with Dick & Angel, will air on Sunday 2nd June at 8pm on Channel 4.
While the popular TV couple may have closed the chapter on documenting their fabulous renovations at Château de la Motte-Husson (projects are still ongoing but it won’t be filmed for TV), they're turning their attention to new adventures, firstly unlocking the secrets of France in a brand new travel series.
During their time at the chateau, Dick and Angel have come to discover a side of France that few tourists ever see, and so in Secret France with Dick & Angel they will share some of the secrets they've learned by heading off the beaten track and exploring the areas of France few of us spot.
News of the spin-off was first announced back in December 2022, but there was uncertainty about the future of the series when Channel 4 confirmed they had cut ties with the couple in May 2023.
Across nine series of Escape to the Chateau we have Dick and Angel's 45-room property rise from its ruins into a beautiful family home. At the heart of all the renovations have been Dick and Angel with their children Arthur and Dorothy, and not forgetting their dog Petale. The series, which had been a ratings hit for Channel 4, ended towards the end of 2022 with one final – and emotional – Christmas celebration attended by family and friends.
Dick and Angel commented back in 2022: 'Escape to the Chateau has been our family journey; our decision to buy a chateau with no water, electricity, heating or sewage has taken us on an adventure of a lifetime and we could never have imagined what would unfold. The good, the bad and the ugly…we have cherished every second and love that we have a visual record to show Arthur and Dorothy when they're older.'
Secret France with Dick & Angel is the fourth Chateau format for Channel 4, in addition to Escape to the Chateau, Escape to the Château DIY and Escape to the Chateau: Make Do and Mend.
As Dick and Angel previously said: 'As one Chateau chapter ends, so another Chateau story begins.'
