The Great Pottery Throw Down is one of our favourite craft shows on TV – and now it's back for a seventh series! We have all the details – including Throw Down's release date and everything you need to know about this year's contestants.

The show follows 12 budding potters, as they strive for perfection in three ceramic challenges each week – all judged by experts Keith Brymer Jones and Rich Miller. The show is presented by the hilarious actor and comedian Siobhan McSweeney.

The Great Pottery Throw Down series 7: When is it on our screens?

The new series of the Throw Down will be back on our screens on Sunday 7 January at 7.45pm on Channel 4.

There will be 10 episodes, with a new episode released every Sunday.

The Great Pottery Throw Down series 7: Who are the contestants?

This year, the contestant list is made up on six men and six women, aged between 24 and 67. Aside from being pottery enthusiasts, their day jobs include being a data scientist, cake sculptor and admin assistant.

Sophie

Sophie creates pet portraits and loves bringing her artistic side into her pottery. She is hoping to turn her dad's shed into her own pottery studio.

Steven

Steven first discovered making his own pottery on a holiday in Greece six years ago. He loves potting with his three-year-old daughter.

Shani

Shani began her pottery journey making pinch pots as a child in Sri Lanka. She rediscovered her interest after watching her children playing with mud!

Princess

Princess previously worked as a pastry chef, but is now a studio technician. She loves working on functional items on the kiln.

Jan

Edward

Edward is mainly self taught, learning how to pot through trial and error. He has set up in his conservatory, and recently made a new sink for his house.

Donna

Donna first tried pottery when she was 15. She is a big fan of DIY and recently renovated her whole house.

Dave

Dave bought himself a broken potter's wheel as a repair job – and it inspired a love that culminated in him having a studio in his garden shed.

Daniel

Daniel's passion for pottery began as a release from his day job as a data scientist. He's an advocate of encouraging everyone to pursue their creative interests.

Dan

Dan's love of pottery deepened during a career break in Spain. He now pots in a rented studio in Weymouth harbour, and gives most of his creations to his mum.

Cadi

Cadi recently rediscovered pottery as part of a drive to prioritise herself. When she’s not throwing pots, she can be found swimming in the sea, hiking up hills or working at her friend’s record label.

Andrew

Andrew starts every day with a bowl of porridge from a hand-thrown bowl and enjoys selecting the perfect ceramics for hosting friends for dinner.

This series will see the return of favourite challenges including Raku Week, Garden Week and Bathroom Week.

The first episode will see the contestants create pieces inspired by the theme Perfect Sunday Memories, including a Sunday roast dinner set and multiple identical side plates.

The Great Pottery Throw Down series 7: Who are the judges?

As in previous years, the crafting efforts of the contestants will be judged by expert potters Keith Brymer Jones and Rich Miller.

When discussing the new series, Keith told Prima: "People find clay for so many reasons, often as a form of escapism.

"Watching them break boundaries within themselves over the course of the series is amazing – they all go on such a journey."

Fellow judge Rich agreed, saying: "The standard was incredibly high, and we felt such a responsibility to get it right."

The Great Pottery Throw Down series 7: Where is it filmed?

Each series of The Great Pottery Throw Down is filmed in Gladstone Pottery Museum in L0ngton, Stoke-on-Trent.

The Great Pottery Throw Down series 7 starts on Sunday 7 January at 7.45pm on Channel 4.
