Who ends up being the killer?

At the end of season one of Only Murders In The Building, Mabel, Charles, and Oliver finally figure out who the Arconia murderer is.

Turns out Jan Bellows, another resident in the building, is the murderer. Tim and Jan were secretly involved romantically before his death.

FWIW, Mabel and Oliver did suspect this, especially since they found bassoon tools in Tim's apartment (Jan is a bassoonist!).

They tried to warn love-struck Charles, but he doesn't think his girlfriend could be the killer.

However, when Charles catches Jan in a lie about being first bassoonist for the symphony, he starts to suspect something is off.

Jan shows up at Charles' apartment and makes him a drink. As they're talking, Charles ends up accusing her of the murder and lays the entire case out for her. While all of this is going on, Charles gets a nosebleed. To treat the nosebleed, Jan offers him ice wrapped in a handkerchief, but it turns out Jan actually treated the handkerchief with a toxin that ends up knocking Charles out. But not before he secretly recorded her confession (unbeknownst to Jan)...

As Jan sees Charles collapse on the floor, she flees to flood the building with gas. Luckily, Mabel and Oliver find Charles, and drag him down to the basement to try to fix the gas leak before fleeing the building. That's when they're met by the one and only Jan.

She's pointing a gun at them, but Mabel tackles her and punches her in the face (for Tim, of course!). The Arconia murderer is then arrested by police, and all seems right in the NYC apartment building again.

Why did Jan kill Tim?

Jan and Tim dated for a while, but eventually Tim broke things off. Jan assumed it was because he was seeing another woman.

Jan couldn't handle this, so she told him to come to her apartment and pick his things up. She offered him a drink (which she poisoned), and after Tim left, she played a recording of herself playing the bassoon (to hide her trail) before heading over to his apartment.

Jan watched Tim die and then used his gun to make it look like he committed suicide.

What else happens at the end?

The three crime solvers get a pretty happy ending. They record the final episode of their podcast (with champagne!) on the rooftop of the apartment building.

As they celebrate, Mabel leaves to grab more champagne downstairs. But after she leaves, Charles and Oliver both get a text from an unfamiliar number that read "Get out of the building now!!!"

They hurry to Mabel's apartment to inform her of the message. Once they arrive, they find her covered in blood and leaning over Bunny, the owner of the Arconia, who is dead. The trio are led out of the NYC apartment building in handcuffs. Talk about a twist!
