Denise Van Outen’s frustration over social media puppy announcement

Denise Van Outen has revealed that partner Eddie Boxshall was in the doghouse when he posted a video of their new puppy on social media.

The West End star was talking on their new podcast Before We Say I Do, as part of a therapy session, about the things that Boxshall does to annoy her!

“We recently got a new puppy, and my daughter wasn't aware that the puppy was going to be at home when we got in - it was a surprise,” Van Outen explained.

“So, we videoed her reaction and Eddie posted the video on social media without mentioning it to me. I hadn't told anybody that we've got this puppy, it was a surprise!”

The pair, who already had a French bulldog named Tilly, got puppy Remy, another Frenchie, in November last year. In the video, Van Outen’s daughter Betsy can be seen exclaiming “I’m going to be your new big sister” as she greets the new addition to the household.

Much to Van Outen’s annoyance, the clip was posted while she was at work and she was inundated with messages asking about the gorgeous new canine family member. To the star, who was recently seen on The Celebrity Circle, it was something she felt should have been talked about first.

“I was upset because I felt it was something that should have been discussed as a family before you told everybody else that we've got her,” she told Boxshall.

The pair were taking part in a hypnotherapy session for the last episode of their joint podcast when therapist Aaron Calvert asked them to think about things that had annoyed them. When asked why it upset her, Van Outen told Calvert it was because it ruined a moment for Betsy.

“What I was upset about is because my daughter is 10 and, for me, it was her moment,” she said.

“It was something that I wanted to do for us together as a family — like to make an announcement that we got a new addition to our family — and he sort of took that moment away from us as a family.”

In response, Boxshall said that he can now see why it may have made her angry.

“I didn't feel as if I had the instructions that there was going to be a family announcement, but in hindsight, which I did say afterwards, I do understand,” he said about Van Outen’s reaction.

For the episode, the final one in their podcast, the Celebrity Gogglebox pair were hypnotised by Calvert and underwent a series of different exercises, which included swapping roles with each other and also looking into their future.

When asked by Calvert what she saw when she thought of her future with Boxshall, Van Outen replied: “We were sitting, looking out at the horizon at the sea and everything. Just sitting together, the two of us… Just having a drink, laughing. Probably the retirement years maybe?”

Much to his amazement, Boxshall also had the same vision!

“This is going to sound really mad, but my vision was us as an old couple, walking along the promenade of a beach” he laughed.

After being brought out of the state of hypnosis, Boxshall said he was pleased that they had the same end goal in mind, although Van Outen said perhaps it wasn’t such a surprising dream.

“Most people from Essex end up retiring to Spain!” she laughed.
