A year after suffering from a drug overdose, Demi Lovato is focusing on her health and wellbeing. So when a social media user suggested she lose weight, the singer clapped back in the best way possible.

On Tuesday (July 2), the 26-year-old was tagged in a paparazzi photograph of herself in workout gear alongside the caption: “Hey Demi dm me so we can discuss a diet plan for you @ddlovato.”

In the comments section, Lovato swiftly replied to the troll: “I actually am choosing not to diet and fall back into unhealthy behaviours at the risk of losing my sanity or mental health but thank you for the offer! Super sweet.”

The former Disney star first entered rehab at 18-years-old after suffering from bulimia, depression and substance abuse.

Lovato has been open about her struggle with eating disorders in the past, revealing that her mother also suffered from bulimia.

In a 2016 interview with American Way magazine, she revealed: “Even though I was two or three-years-old, being around somebody who was 80 pounds and had an active eating disorder... it's hard not to grow up like that.”

After starting to binge eat aged just nine, the singer went on to speak candidly about her worries over her future children also struggling from the condition.

“I'm nowhere near having children but already I ask myself questions,” she explained. “My grandma had bulimia, my mum had it, I had it, and hopefully my kids won't have it, but it's kind of like addiction. It's hereditary.”

In June 2018, Lovato released hit track Sober - in which the songstress revealed that she had relapsed after six years of sobriety.

A month later, the singer was reportedly rushed to hospital after a suspected overdose and spent two weeks there before returning to rehab.

Last month, Lovato revealed to fans that she’s been busy working on new music with details under wraps for now.
