All About December's Full Moon and What It Means for Your Zodiac Sign

December's lunation may be nicknamed the Cold Moon, but the cosmos are surely heating up!

This month's full moon rises on Dec. 15 at 4:02 a.m. ET. The lunar event is astronomically and astronomically significant as it marks the twelfth and final full moon of the year while boasting electrifying energy within our zodiac signs at the same time.

Full moon's bring culmination, completion and revelations to our lives in the weeks surrounding the extraterrestrial event. According to celebrity astrologer Kyle Thomas, they tend to be "more emotional periods" and their effects can be felt "two days prior and four days after" they occur.

In addition, Thomas notes that full moons are known to mark completion in our lives — and therefore, "often bring important news that you’ve been building toward for six months to a year." This year's December lunation will be a full moon in Gemini.

Thomas puts forth, "This zodiac sign rules communication, technology and short-distance travel. It stimulates our minds to connect with others, especially those in our general vicinity such as friends, neighbors and nearby acquaintances and siblings."

As a result, Thomas predicts we'll "be motivated to express our minds" in communication-related endeavors while recognizing that the pace of life is "quickening" simultaneously. This is, in part, due to the variety of astrological energies that need to be navigated at this time.

The full moon is square Neptune, which Thomas says "makes it the most potent" as it creates "feelings of disorientation, confusion, illusion, delusion and insecurity." He predicts we will be "extremely sensitive" and "could become overwhelmed by emotions." as a result.

The full moon is in distant opposition to Jupiter, which Thomas says "will expand our energy" to make us feel "over the top" in the days surrounding its peak. Meanwhile, Mercury — the planetary ruler of this lunation — is in a sweet sextile to Venus, which he says can bring "pleasure."

Despite "murky influences" like Mars retrograde, Thomas is optimistic! "We could experience positive growth around relationships," he says, though stresses the importance of "treading forth carefully."

Aries (March 21 to April 19)

Your mind is racing, Aries! "You have an important message that you’d like to broadcast to the world," stresses Thomas.

"This full moon could help you to launch an important writing, speaking, advertising or social media endeavor to great success," he makes known. "Contractual matters could also reach a conclusion near this time."

Elsewhere in his predictions, Thomas says "you might want to travel a short distance" at this time. "Venture to nearby towns and enjoy the festive spirit!"

Taurus (April 20 to May 20)

Seeing green, Taurus? "Prosperity could soon be on its way," Thomas puts forth.

"The full moon should bring to culmination an important financial matter for you, perhaps in the form of a raise, new job offer or large check," he says. "While this lunation could also trigger a big expense, keep tabs on your financial management and start to think about how you want to build your wealth in 2024."

Gemini (May 21 to June 20)

Pump up the power, Gemini! According to Thomas, the "most important full moon of the year" has arrived amid an important turning point.

"Something of vital personal significance will reach culmination at this time, perhaps giving you the closure that will improve your life going forward," he puts forth. "A major heartfelt goal or dream could also be within reach."

It's important, though, that you don't "sit in the shadows" and wait for it to come to you. "Exert your strength and show the world why you are a treasure to behold!" he adds.

Cancer (June 21 to July 22)

It's time to restore your energy, Cancer! "This full moon will encourage you to reset your emotional, mental and physical batteries because you’ve earned it," says Thomas.

"Lie low and give yourself some much-needed TLC. If you are in need of finding a healer, this lunation could also aid you in doing so," he says, adding, "You’ll be quite reflective and nostalgic at this time, so process the intuitive dreams you’ll be receiving."

Leo (July 23 to Aug. 22)

Time to chat it up, Leo! As this full moon highlights your friendships, Thomas predicts "you’ll be on the top of everyone’s list" this holiday season.

"You’ll likely attend at least one dazzling event where you’re the star of the show. Circulate among those who you love and make time to show how much you appreciate them," he says. "The love you receive will return tenfold."

Also, take the time to manifest your greatest hopes and dreams now! "Someone in your circle could step in to open the doorway to one of them that you have prayed for," says Thomas, noting that you're going to want to "speak up" because the "support you want" may appear now.

Virgo (Aug. 23 to Sept. 22)

A major professional victory could now be within reach, Virgo! "A promotion, new job offer, milestone or opportunity for public praise may present itself near this time," Thomas puts forth.

"Previous hard work will surely be celebrated," he adds. "If you are feeling that you’re not on the right career track, this full moon will bring it to your complete awareness. You’ll decide that it’s time to set your sights on new career goals in 2024."

Libra (Sept. 23 to Oct. 22)

Soak it all in, Libra! "You could now be ready to soar in a breathtaking new direction or make plans to do so in 2024," Thomas puts forth.

"This full moon will energize you to slightly shift the narrative of your life and examine what else you’d like to learn," he predicts. "Some Libras will make a decision or hear news regarding academics, travel plans or a media endeavor."

Thomas adds, "This will propel you to seize the reins and realize you can create the life you’ve always wanted if you harness your wisdom and experience."

Scorpio (Oct. 23 to Nov. 21)

Intimacy will be on the top of your mind, Scorpio. "The full moon will be helping you to get in touch with your most sensitive parts both emotionally and physically," Thomas puts forth.

If single, he says you could "attract someone who knows how to complete you in every way" — and if in a relationship, he predicts you’ll be "assessing if your authentic needs are being fulfilled by your partner."

Depending on where you stand, Thomas says "you’ll likely air out your mutual feelings." This same lunation could also "trigger the arrival" of a large financial windfall, he adds, noting it could be in the form of "a bonus, royalty check, inheritance or settlement."

If you’re interested in getting involved with investments, Thomas says "now would be an auspicious time to do so."

Sagittarius (Nov. 22 to Dec. 21)

Partnership is the key, Sagittarius! "This full moon will help you to grow closer with someone in business, collaboration or love," Thomas says.

Single Sagittarians may "have luck" finding a perfect match, so be sure to put yourself out there," he puts forth — while noting those in committed relationships could "decide it’s time to make long-term plans," like moving in or tying the knot.

However, if you aren't aligned with your partner, Thomas says this lunation "could drive a schism between you as you go your separate ways."

Capricorn (Dec. 22 to Jan. 19)

Time to grind, Capricorn! "The full moon will make you busier than ever," says Thomas.

"You may now be focused upon an important project for your employer that must have final approval, so you're putting everything you have into completing the task," he puts forth. If you give it your all, he says it could make you "shine brighter" in your boss's eyes.

This lunation could draw attention to your health, too. "You may decide it’s time to try a different diet or create a new fitness goal at this time or in the following year," says Thomas, predicting that you'll "be stronger than ever" if you commit.

Aquarius (Jan. 20 to Feb. 18)

Love is in the air, Aquarius! Get excited for a vibrant, romantic period to appear.

"Single Aquarians must not let this energy go to waste as you could find someone who is a soulmate or who lights your heart on fire," stresses Thomas, though says you must put yourself out there. Committed Aquarians can enjoy this energy, too!

Thomas says you have an opportunity to plan a "memorable, magical date" with your partner around the December full moon. If you are creative, he says "you’ll be bursting with artistic genius" at this time.

Pisces (Feb. 19 to March 20)

It's time to celebrate a wonderful year, Pisces! "This full moon will bring to culmination a domestic, family or real estate matter for you," says Thomas.

"Some may be hosting a lovely gathering at their home with their kindred, while others may be contemplating a big renovation, redecoration or move now or in the coming year," he puts forth. "If you do so, you’ll like the results... but take your time!"

Elsewhere in his prediction, Thomas says to "step in" if an important family matter arises around this lunation. "You’ll be glad that you did."
