Death in Paradise fans 'work out' two favourites will return in show twist

Death in Paradise fans are convinced that fan favourites Ralf Little and Josephine Jobert will make a surprise return in the newly announced spin-off of the popular detective series. As regular viewers may recall, Ralf, 44, who played DI Neville Parker on the BBC crime comedy-drama, stunned fans last month when left the show at the end of season thirteen after four years.

His character Neville Parker was last seen leaving the fictional Caribbean island of Saint Marie for new adventures after being reunited with former flame Florence Cassell (played by Josephine Jobert) who had been in witness protection. Following his departure, the show is set to continue with a new Detective Inspector taking over, with comedy actress Diane Morgan rumoured to be stepping into the lead role.

However, with the announcement of a new 'Death' spin-off also on the cards, fans are convinced that Ralf and 38 year old Josephine will make a surprise appearance in the new instalment of the franchise. The spin-off, Return To Paradise, will be set in Australia and led by actress Anna Samson as DI Mackenzie Clark.

Since the announcement of the new show, fans were buzzing with excitement on social media, sharing their predictions about the upcoming series including the potential for a return of their favourite characters.

One eager viewer posted: "This cast looks strong. I'm looking forward to seeing familiar scenery in the Paraverse/DiPverse. Gorgeous dog. I'm sure Nev and Florence will be along to visit the dog if for no other reason", reports the Mirror. Meanwhile, another viewer chimed in with: "I still say have Neville and Florence drop by on their world tour."

The latest scoop on the new Aussie-based chapter of the beloved franchise has teased some juicy details ahead, after it was revealed that: "Once a case lands on [Anna Samson's DI Mackenzie Clark's] desk, she can't rest until she's figured it out, and the killer is in handcuffs. It's that tenacity and work ethic that might just, over time, help Mackenzie win over her new colleagues, and the people of Dolphin Cove."

Set to premiere later this year, the show promises six thrilling episodes as the second spin-off within the expansive Paradise universe.

In a hint of what to expect, the UK previously got a taste of the franchise's charm with Beyond Paradise, which started gracing screens in 2023. In the locally grown spin-off, the show brings back the comedic genius Kris Marshall as DI Humphrey Goodman, taking fans to the picturesque Shipton Abbott in Devon.

Kris previously held the lead role in Death In Paradise, between 2014 to 2017, and while fans were delighted to see him reprise his role on screen - there was one twist to the show that sparked a fierce debate: the series is actually filmed in Cornwall, despite being set in Devon.

The show features Sally Bretton as Martha Lloyd, Humphrey's fiancee, Zahra Ahmadi as DS Esther Williams, and Dylan Llewellyn as PC Kelby Hartford, among others. The second season is currently on air and is set to wrap up on Friday 26 April.
