David Dobrik is starting the new year off by marking a personal milestone.

On Tuesday, Jan 7, the influencer, 28, celebrated uploading his first YouTube video in nearly three years by giving his fans a view of his year-long fitness transformation that gave him six-pack abs.

The vlogger last posted a YouTube video in March 2022 amid controversy over ex-Vlog Squad member Jeff Wittek's near-fatal injuries following a stunt gone wrong. In his new Instagram post, next to a side-by-side of his before and after, Dobrik wrote, "New year, new me, new vlog."

"I couldn’t be more grateful for the people around me that pushed me this year to be a better version of myself. I owe everything to all my friends and especially Ilya who has literally changed my life," he wrote. "I love ya dude. I don’t feel like pudding anymore !!!!"

He followed up the photo by posting a video (shared on Instagram and TikTok) of himself looking at his body before his physical transformation. The video then cuts to a clip of him smiling from ear to ear while looking at his new, ripped physique.

As for why he decided to begin a fitness journey, Dobrik explained in his new YouTube video (which included appearances from various celebrities like Josh Peck, Corinna Kopf, Olivia Jade Giannulli, Noah Beck, Harry Jowsey and Dixie D’Amelio) that his transformation was part of a bet made with MrBeast.

"We bet — like this is at the start of the year — that if he didn't get jacked, he would have to buy 20,000 Feastable bars," MrBeast said while speaking to Dobrik's best friend and fitness expert Ilya Fedorovich.

Since Fedorovich, who founded Xeela Fitness, helped Dobrik with his journey, MrBeast awarded him a new car.

"You helped the squad get jacked and have been very selfless, so it's time for you to get something," MrBeast told him.

In a separate video shared by Xeela Fitness, Dobrik further explained why he wanted to make the change after realizing where his health had gotten.

"This is the moment I'm realizing that I need to make some health changes," he said in a December 2023 clip included in the video. "This is crazy that I look like this. I don't know what happened. I've never, ever taken my health seriously. I've always told myself, like 'the next month. The next year. When I'm done with this vlog. When I'm done with the vlog.' "
