A Yorkshire Student Union is one of two sites that has been picked for exclusive gig of a UK band.

The Darkness will be playing at Beckett Student Union, Leeds on May 17 as part of an outstore show to advertise their new album 'Dreams on Toast'. The band will only be doing this exclusive show in HMV in Coventry and Leeds in May this year.

At the exclusive gig, fans can witness an full performance of their eighth studio album followed with a greatest hits set.

Those wanting to go will have the chance to buy Saturday, January 25 - but they will have to wait until March 28 for the album to come out via Cooking Vinyl.

The Darkness exploded with the big bang that changed the face of British rock music more than 20 years ago. Their cheeky, spandex-clad anthems continue to capture hearts, and a new generation of fans, around the world.

The band will be hitting the road in March for their largest headline tour of the UK in years which will start on March 7 in Ipswich and will come to Hull on March 12 then York Barbican on March 17.

The band will be supported by Northern Irish indie-rock heroes Ash, who first supported The Darkness on their legendary ‘Permission To Land Tour’. Lead singer of Ash, Tim Wheeler, said: “In 2004 we toured the UK’s arenas with The Darkness as ‘Permission to Land’ catapulted them into the big league.

"Next March, 21 years later, we will reunite to tear across Britain before an epic crescendo at Wembley Arena. We believe in a thing called Rock!”
