Danny Jones details exactly how he became really ill after I'm A Celeb exit amid medical advice
I'm A Celeb 2024 champ Danny Jones opened up about the real reason he fell 'unbelievably ill', after his return to luxury at the cast's 5-star hotel. Chatting with Harry Judd, who was filling in on Magic Radio Breakfast with Harriet Scott this Friday, Danny described how the camp's meagre rations contrasted sharply with the lavish breakfast he enjoyed at the JW Marriott Gold Coast Resort and Spa post-victory, which unfortunately led to his body going into shock and him becoming 'unbelievably ill' with diarrhea.
“I came back to the hotel and had two breakfasts - I had a banana bread sandwich with fruit, maple syrup and cream. I doubled that up with a baked croissant, egg, halloumi and avocado sandwich with a cup of tea. From there I went into a vanilla milkshake, then I did another crispy chicken burger and chips. In the evening I had chicken and mushroom pasta and then for two days I had to take Imodium. I was so ill it was unbelievable”.
Discussing the camp diet, he admitted: “It's one of the most challenging things I've ever done. The boredom is real, the hunger is real - we're on 500 calories a day with no stars. If you get one or two stars you're getting a wallaby leg or an eel with a few bits of veg, so the calories don't go up much.”

“I remember [bandmate and former King of the Jungle Dougie Poynter] saying to me ‘you're going to be picking up other people's rations and eating from their chewed bones’ and I did that!"
Danny's I'm A Celeb victory marked his third win this year, following his success on The Masked Singer and coaching Ava to victory on ITV's The Voice, alongside fellow McFly member Tom Fletcher. The 38 year old described 2024 as a 'crazy year', revealing he had planned to take a six-month break to move house before his tour next year, but couldn't resist the call of the jungle when I'm A Celeb came knocking.
His wife Georgia handled the move while he was in Australia. After his win, Danny shared his first official message on social media, as he continues to enjoy some time away from his phone following his three-week stint without life's luxuries.
Danny took to Instagram with snapshots of joy as he celebrated his stint in I'm A Celeb 2024 with the other campmates, sharing high praises and heartfelt thanks.
In his own words: "A message from Danny... This was one of the hardest and most amazing things I have ever done in my life. I would have never been able to have the incredible experience I've had, without these people. The campmates made it for me. A huge congratulations to my fellow finalists Col and Revvo. I'll be back on my phone and socials very soon Love you all," the star concluded.
