Danny Dyer reunites with EastEnders star to film Christmas movie
Christmas has come early this year for Danny Dyer, who is already in festive mode to film an upcoming film in London. The former EastEnders star was spotted shooting new movie Christmas Karma with The Big Bang Theory's Kunal Nayyar on Thursday.
Danny is set to play a London black cabbie in the festive flick, which has been written, directed and produced by Bend It Like Beckham's Gurinder Chadha. The film is modern Bollywood musical based on Charles Dickens's A Christmas Carol.
In new pictures, Danny - who's sporting a Christmas jumper, fetching cap and a gilet - can be seen chuckling along with Gurinder. In other shots, he's leaning out of a cab window, looking confused.
The play stars Kunal as the lead, who is pictured smiling with bags of gifts in each hand in one shot. In another, he looks dishevelled in a dressing gown and coat, holding a copy of Danny's most successful film - The Business.
Danny will be reuniting with his soap co-star Nitin Ganatra, who played Masood Ahmed in EastEnders from 2007 until 2019, in the film. Meanwhile, Bridgerton's Charithra Chandran, singer Pixie Lott, Eva Longoria, Hugh Bonneville and Boy George are also set to star.
Danny Dyer has kept himself busy since leaving EastEnders in 2022, with the soap star hosting Channel 4's Scared of the Dark and starring in Channel 5's Heat. He recently competed in The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up To Cancer - and admitted on the show that he's not much of a DIY whiz.
"I had a child young and tried to build a wardrobe," he said. "But I built myself into it. I had to punch the back of it to get out. My missus still mocks me to this day.”
On the show, he recreated the wardrobe from vanilla sponge and hid a fondant model of himself holding a hammer in the middle for judges Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood to find.
He added: “I’ve had many failures in my life, some of them I can’t do though cos they’re filth. I’ve blagged my whole career, 30 years. I’ve made a whole career out of that. I still have no idea what I’m doing. Who knows? Maybe I’m meant to be an unbelievable baker.”
