Danny DeVito describes the "joy" of becoming a grandparent
Danny DeVito has had many legendary roles over his impressive career, but there's one which is particularly close to his heart - being a grandparent.
In a new video, the Hollywood actor opened up about his family and how important they are to him, and spoke of his excitement at becoming a grandfather.
"In two years, my daughters had a baby each. Since these babies have been born, you got to tamper me down in the joy department. I’m just like, you know, busting!" he said in the video, which you can watch below.
Speaking about his own children (including his daughter Lucy DeVito, who he starred in A Sudden Case of Christmas with last year) he said, "I look at them all the time, I want them to take their time and grow." He added that this was advice he'd passed onto his kids for their own children: "Don’t miss a thing. Don’t look away."
Touching on his career later in life, Danny said that he's "working on a lot of projects. I’m more game than ever, I think I’m more bold," but stressed that his true prioritises would always lie outside of his work.
"No matter what happens in your life the main thing is that you’ve got family and friends. That’s all we have basically: reliable people in our lives who we can talk to and open up to," he said.
He ended the video by saying that, because of his close relationships, he felt "very fortunate" and that he had had "blessing showered down on" him, which is something he wishes "for everybody."
