Dame Laura Kenny announces she's pregnant in adorable reveal video

Olympic cyclist Dame Laura Kenny has announced the happy news that she's expecting her third child with her husband Sir Jason Kenny, 35. The medal winner posted a reel to her Instagram page showing her two sons wearing t-shirts with "I'm going to be a big brother to a baby" written across them, alongside a short clip of herself showing off her baby bump.

The couple, who have 15 Olympic medals between them, are already parents to their two boys - Albie, born in 2017, and Monty, aged one, - and Laura, 32, has spoken in the past of her devastating experiences with miscarriage. Her announcement post, which she shared with her 218K Instagram followers on New Year's Eve (Tuesday) was instantly flooded with messages of congratulations, including some from the world of professional cycling.

Fellow Olympian Rebecca Adlington wrote "Congratulations", as did fellow GB cyclist Elinor Barker. The video, which featured Donna Lewis's I Love You Always Forever song, included shots of Albie and Monty standing by the family Christmas tree, before cutting to a beaming Laura dressed in a black vest and leggings looking down at her prominent bump.

The cycling golden couple, who married in 2016, spoke to OK! previously about their journey to become parents and the heartache they've suffered. During an exclusive gender reveal photoshoot back in March 2023 - when she was pregnant with Monty - Laura explained that she'd had a miscarriage in 2021, followed shortly by an ectopic pregnancy that led to her undergoing lifesaving treatment to remove a fallopian tube.

Laura, who is GB's most decorated female Olympic athlete, has understandably kept her pregnancy under wraps, and hid her bump well at the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Awards last month. She stepped onto the red carpet with Jason and cleverly disguised her tummy in a pretty, pastel pink tiered dress.

In March last year, Essex-born Laura announced she was stepping off the bike - professionally - for the last time and was officially retiring. At the time, she explained the decision was partly down to the struggle of juggling her home life with a rigorous training schedule and competition calendar.

“I always knew deep down I would know when was the right time," she shared. "I have had an absolute blast but now is the time to hang up the bike. It’s been in my head for a little while, the sacrifices of leaving the children and your family at home is really quite big and it is a really big decision to make.

"More and more, I was struggling to do that. More people asking me what races I was doing, what training camps was I going on, I didn’t want to go ultimately and that’s what it came down to.”
