Dakota Johnson debuts a brunette babylights hair colour refresh for spring
Late last year, Dakota Johnson debuted a dramatic blonde bobbed hair transformation that had us (read: me) going platinum... no literally. But I digress, because although it didn't take long for the star to go back to her roots (shortly after she went back brunette – sad times for me, hey), she's now, once again, lightening up her locks for the spring summer 2023 season. Despite the fact of it being on a much dimmer scale, I must preface.
In an Instagram post debuting her new hair, Dakota's hairstylist, Matt Rez wrote: "A lil lighter for the gorgeous @dakotajohnson", accompanied by two pictures of the actor. As shown (although, it may need pointing out for the hair colour novices among us), Matt has added some super fine brunette babylights through the mid-lengths of her hair.
It's so subtle that her strands looks very much sun-kissed.
Now, in case you were wondering what makes a babylights hair transformation, listen up. Differentiating the style from what we traditionally know as highlights, babylights are delicate. The sections created by one's hairstylist when babylighting (if you will) are finer than the ones used in the original technique, making for a more natural blend of colours.
In Dakota's case, Matt has opted for a warm caramel balayage, aka a light brunette mix.
So, if you're wanting a little hair refresh for the sunnier climes but aren't for all the dramatics, then look no further than to DJ's recent 'do! Your hairdresser can thank us later.
