Daisy Edgar-Jones' New 'Mocha Glaze' Hair Was Inspired By Jane Birkin
Daisy Edgar Jones has become somewhat of a hair icon recently, joining the likes of Dakota Johnson and Sienna Miller on our moodboard of effortlessly chic celebrity mops. First appearing on the scene in 2020, armed with a dangerously tempting fluffy full fringe and undone girl-next-door tresses, her role as Marianne in BBC's Normal People put her on the beauty radar immediately. Since then, she's experimented with choppy bobs, buttery blondes and cascading hair extensions. Her most recent look? A glossy, lightened shade we're coining 'mocha glaze'; a soft brown taupe that proves transformational hair colour can also be subtle.

'I was inspired by Jane Birkin,' says Edgar-Jones' celebrity colourist Jacob Schwartz. 'I created her Look with a combination of subtle highlights and low lights, which pick up the hair’s shine and dimension and really lights up with the flash of a camera. It's a more modern take on a classic brunette, focusing on shine; I love putting Olaplex No. 1 in my colour for that reason.'
With cooler months now approaching, the odds that we'll be revisiting our favourite Irish romance (armed with cosy blankets and steaming hot chocolate) is high, so we went back to the tousled fringe where it all began and logged the actor's very best hair moments to date. From her iconic bangs to her effortless 2024 red carpet tresses, this is how Daisy Edgar Jones hair has evolved throughout her ascent to stardom.

September 2024
Daisy's latest Jane Birkin 'mocha glaze' locks were first spotted at the front row of Gucci's Spring Summer 2025 fashion show at Milan Fashion Week. With gentle, wavy layers and her now signature curtain bangs, this effortless 'do is the long bob of the season.
September 2024
At the premiere of On Swift Horses, which took place during the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival this month, Edgar-Jones paired pastel blue eyeshadow with a playful half-up style. This undone look puts her A-line fringe at the forefront and is easy to replicate with just a few clips.
July 2024
The actor experimented with a wispy faux bob at a special screening of Twisters in Oklahoma City earlier this summer. With free-flowing tendrils and messy, matte texture, this might be Edgar-Jones' most casual red carpet hair moment ever.
July 2024
The Twisters Los Angeles premiere saw the 26-year-old present the sleekest of red carpet ponytails. With a high-shine, pin straight finish and her trademark centre-parted fringe, this elegant do doubles up as the perfect everyday office style.
July 2024
Daisy first made a case for flowing hair extensions at the beginning of this year, and it's safe to say we're convinced. This soft, delicate texture looks so elegant, but simultaneously so achievable too. Not to mention her soft, glowy highlights.
April 2024
April this year saw Edgar-Jones iconic full fringe make a statement return. Think thick, choppy, brow-scraping bangs that frame the face without ever looking to blocky. Add in a high-shine vinyl gloss and you have the ultimate gooey brunette.
February 2024
This chic bob is ideal for anyone looking to brave the chop, without committing to the classic chin-brushing length. For sleek nineties volume, use a round brush to blow-dry curves towards the face and finish with a glazing hairspray.
February 2024
A transitional hairstyle at its finest. The 2024 EE BAFTA Film Awards had us saying goodbye to Daisy's short stint as a dewy dandelion blonde and hello to quintessential 2016 ombré lengths. We've all been there.
November 2023
This sunkissed blonde was a temporary switch-up for the Twisters film and by far Edgar-Jones' lightest shade yet. While she's obviously destined to be a brunette, we'll always hold a space for this soft, gilded shade.
November 2022
If you're looking for a blunt bob that feels voluminous and timeless, look no further. Still sporting her signature, swooping fringe, the actor chopped off major lengths in 2022.
July 2022
Not too dissimilar to her present brunette lengths, these soft waves made an appearance at a special screening of Where The Crawdads Sing at The Ham Yard Hotel over two years ago.
May 2022
We rarely see Edgar-Jones sporting her hair in anything but a soft wave, so this straightened look is an obvious stand-out moment. Worn at the 2022 Met Gala, themed 'In America: An Anthology of Fashion', the look was simple, timeless and ultra-smooth.
March 2022
This voluminous, fluffy curls were a super polished alternative for the actor, who is prone to more undone, textured waves in recent months. Paired with a strong black eyeliner, this glamorous beauty ensemble hasn't aged a day.
March 2022
This dark chocolate hue was one of Daisy's darkest hair colours, and in turn one of our favourites. Balancing loose texture with rich, vibrant shine, there's a little bit of everything in this cool-girl look.
November 2021
By November 2o21, Daisy's fringe was entirely absent as she attended the Harper's Bazaar At Work Summit. This simple, wavy style (and the lack of curtains) makes her look so fresh-faced.
July 2020
Here we have it, the iconic Marianne fringe circa 2020. If you're looking for a real life version of Daisy's famous Normal People hair, this is the full, fluffy iteration we'd offer up. Plus, some golden tips for good measure.
January 2020
This brushed back look is the one of the only records we have of a fringeless Daisy Edgar-Jones and it's one of her most dramatic red carpet hair looks. It's safe to say, she looks completely unrecognisable.
