This father has a new take on a lullaby.

Rank Wood is a dad to 9-month-old Journey, and he recently found out she loves to fall asleep to the sound of his rapping.

In a TikTok video that’s now been viewed more than 12 million times, Rank holds Journey to put her down for nap time and he raps “Look at Me Now,” a 2011 song by Chris Brown featuring Lil Wayne and Busta Rhymes. As he gets to Busta Rhymes’ verse, Journey begins to slowly close her eyes, drifting off to the sound of her dad’s voice and the pats on her back in time with the beat.

Rank says he found out “literally that day and in that moment” that Journey saw her father’s rapping as a lullaby.

“I was walking around the house rapping and writing music and Journey was following me in her walker,” he tells PEOPLE exclusively. “When she started getting tired, I picked her up how I normally do and I started patting her back. I started rapping and as I started rapping she looked up at me in awe. I pulled the camera out and started rapping ‘Look At Me Now’ and within the first few lines, she fell asleep.”

Since Rank posted the video on Dec. 13, it’s brought in 2.5 million likes and 19,000 comments, with many commending the father not only on his parenting but on his breath control.

“why is no one talking about the breath control?! 👏🏽” one TikTok user commented on the viral video.

“You feel the vibration in the speaker...almost fell asleep too 😂” another joked.

“Music truly captivates her,” Rank says of his daughter, noting she also has a special love for the songs on Gracie’s Corner and Cocomelon when her dad isn’t rapping for her. “I wanted my TikTok viewers to see and experience the same thing I felt in that moment. These are precious moments that we experience as parents and are relatable."

You an angel straight from God, yeah, you a blessin’. Do you trust me enough to tell me your dreams? You so pretty I’m staring at you when you’re fallin’ asleep.”
