It takes an on-screen great to become as instantly recognisable - by face or name - as Lesley Manville.

The actress, whose career so far spans nearly half a decade, has previously won big at London Critics Circle Film Awards and Laurence Olivier Awards, while also being a Golden Globe and BAFTA nominee several times over.

Yet, while Lesley has become a stalwart of cinema, she has remained incredibly versatile.

Most recently, Lesley took on the role of Princess Margaret in the final series of The Crown - before that, she played protagonist Ada Harris in Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris. Come Spring, she'll have portrayed the grandmother of late British icon and singer, Amy Winehouse in the upcoming biopic, Back to Black.

As for her next project? Lesley is set to return to another spy thriller as she leads Winter of the Crow, which is now shooting in Warsaw, Poland.

The feature film - directed by Berlin Film Festival award winner, Kasia Adamik - is set in Poland's capital city in 1981, during the Cold War.

Lesley will take on the role of a British professor, Dr Joan Andrews, who arrives in Poland just as martial law is imposed and the country is shut down. When Dr Joan Andrews witnesses a brutal murder by the secret police, her own life is placed under threat.

“As a Cold War spy thriller, Winter of the Crow feels truly original in that the lead protagonist is an everyday woman who is challenged to step up and make a difference in a completely unique situation,” Gabrielle Stewart, CEO of HanWay Films, told Variety. “Lesley Manville will be simply brilliant and we can’t wait to reveal footage of this incredible film.”
