The Crown star Josh O’Connor has responded to Prince Harry’s recent comments about the hit Netflix drama.

The Duke of Sussex made an unexpected appearance on The Late Late Show last week, being interviewed by James Corden.

Harry spoke positively about The Crown, which last year faced criticism from some viewers (and members of parliament) for its deviation from historical fact.

Asked who should portray him in future episodes, he suggested Homeland star Damien Lewis.

“I think Damian Lewis as you and me as William, that’s casting,” said the host, to which Harry sarcastically replied: “It’s not great casting, but it is casting.”

Speaking to ET Online on Sunday, O’Conner said: “I’m delighted. I’m delighted that he watches it.”

“I think anyone who watches it is a great… you know, that’s what we’re there for.”

Addressing the duke’s desire to have Damien Lewis portray him in future seasons of the show, O’Connor said: “Oh, I love Damian Lewis, he’s great! I think the great thing about The Crown is we put together great casts.”

On Sunday, O’Connor took home the Golden Globe for best performance in a drama, in a surprise victory over nominees including Matthew Rhys, Bob Odenkirk and Jason Bateman.
