How to make crown chair backers

Step 1

Measure the widest part of the chair that you'd like the backer to cover and add two centimetres. This will be the width of your crown.

Step 2

Using this measurement, draw a crown using black pen on your yellow felt and cut it out.

Step 3

Using the previous cut-out as a template, draw a second crown the same size on the felt and cut that out too.

Step 4

Pin the two crowns together using safety pins, with the side you drew round facing inwards, to avoid seeing any black pen.

Step 5

Stitch the two crowns together around the outside using the yellow embroidery thread. Use a simple running stitch and avoid stitching the base of the crown together – this goes over the back of your chair!

Step 6

Embellish your crown using red thread – we stitched crosses along the bottom and circles across the top to mimic jewels.
