Seven-time CrossFit champion Tia-Clair Toomey-Orr and fellow CrossFit Games Team winner James Newbury finished second at Hyrox Brisbane this past weekend. Just three months after their debut at Hyrox Melbourne in the Mixed Doubles category, the pair took part in their second competition and crossed the finish line in 54:11.

'Race recap: made significant progress since our last competition, dropping from 55:49 to 54:11!', James exclaimed in an Instagram video. 'Looking forward to an intense training block ahead to increase current speed, refine technique and push past current limits. @tiaclair1 was simply unstoppable today.'

Rox Coach released a breakdown of their station split times, while The Barbell Spin issued a side-by-side comparison of their Brisbane scores compared to Melbourne.

They shaved nearly 15 seconds off their row, finishing the 1k in 03:50 compared to 04:04 in Melbourne, and nearly 20 seconds off the SkiErg, where the 1,000m distance took them 03:36 instead of 03:54.

While the running times were exactly the same, coming in at 29:51 for both comps, there was a slight difference in individual laps. Run 8 this time round was a full 20 seconds faster, at 04:05 in Brisbane compared to Melbourne's 04:25.

The Roxzone – the transition between the run and the stations – seems to be where they saved the most time, as in Brisbane their 04:08 total was over a minute quicker than their Melbourne 05:14. 'Some of this could be because they were more efficient getting on and off the track. However, the Roxzone is not always consistent between events and the Brisbane Roxzone could have been set up better', according to The Barbell Spin.
