A bride-to-be's diamond ring flew off of her finger and into the snow during her engagement photo shoot.

The day after Phil Mui, 34, proposed to Kim Zaw, 33, the couple decided to take engagement photos in Park City, Utah. But the dreamy winter backdrop soon turned into a snowy nightmare when the new engagement ring got lost in the ice.

Not long into the shoot, Zaw's ring slipped off and disappeared into the snow. It wasn't until the photographer asked her to do a pose in which she placed her hand onto her fiancé's chest that they noticed the ring was missing.

“Ten minutes into the shoot, we lose the ring,” the groom-to-be told FOX 13 News Utah. “Hearts are sinking, we’re kinda freaking out a little bit.”

"We did a pose where we picked up snow and threw it in the air and then we did another pose where we picked up snow and blew it at the camera at our photographer and I think it was that moment where it was so cold that I shook my hands to kind of just warm up and it fell off," the bride-to-be said.

The Park City Ski Patrol, along with strangers who passed by, helped Mui and Zaw in their search for the gold ring. But hours later, the search seemed hopeless. Even with a metal detector, it was like trying to find a needle in a haystack.

“The ski patrol even told us, ‘Uh oh, you might have to wait until Spring to find this one,' " Zaw continued to the outlet.

“We thought it would take only a few minutes to find because we were in such a small area and so many people were helping us look for it but it ended up taking us two hours,” said Mui, who saw the sparkling ring glistening on top of snow-covered grass.

Mui kneeled on one knee to grab the ring, and saw the joyous moment as an opportunity to propose again.

“As soon as Phil was like, ‘I found it!’ I was like jumping up and down, and I just started crying because I was so excited that we found it,” Zaw said. She accepted his proposal again as onlookers and skiers on a ski lift above them watched.

Now, the California-based couple not only have their ring back, but a sweet story to share every winter holiday season.
