The annual beach clean is run by the Marine Conservation Society. For 2020, it is encouraging all of us to take part in our own small, local beach cleans with friends and family, in line with the current government coronavirus guidelines.

Photos of the Wessex family's day out were also shared on the official @TheRoyalFamily Instagram account, where the post has received thousands of likes as well as plenty of comments commending them on their volunteering.

"These are beautiful photos," wrote one fan. "So lovely to see the entire family volunteering their time together."

"Ooh, how lovely, thank you for looking after our beach," added a local follower.
