Since the arrival of the new Royal baby boy on Monday 6th May, affectionately nicknamed 'Baby Sussex', speculation has been rife as to what the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will choose to call their new bundle of joy.

With Prince Harry promising media that today will be the day Baby Sussex is presented to the world 'with the whole family', bets have been placed on names ranging from Arthur to Alexander, as speculation mounts and royal watchers keenly awaiting the announcement.

In an Instagram post, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's account read:

"Their Royal Highnesses’ son weighs 7lbs. 3oz."

"The Duchess and baby are both healthy and well, and the couple thank members of the public for their shared excitement and support during this very special time in their lives."

The Duke and Duchess may decide to go with a traditional name like James, Philip or Arthur.

However, the as the modern pair have eschewed many royal traditions so far in their relationship, they could surprise us with a non-traditional name for their first born, just as Canadian-born Autumn Phillips and Peter Phillips did with their daughter Savanna.

Since Harry and Meghan's child is seventh-in-line to the throne, it's unlikely he will be ever be king (or be given the title of Prince), giving the pair more freedom with their name choice. Unlike the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge who chose all three of their children's monikers from traditional names lists.

Yesterday William Hill selected a new favourite name - Spencer at 4/1 - the maiden name of Prince Harry's late mother Princess Dianna. Other top picks for the royal baby boy are James and Alexander, both at 5/1.
