Coronavirus: Linda Lusardi shares first photo after being discharged from hospital

Linda Lusardi has shared her first photo since being discharged from hospital following her battle with coronavirus.

The former glamour model shared a photo on Saturday of herself on Instagram showing her smiling in bed alongside her pet dog Dexter.

“So good to be home,” she wrote in the caption, “Keep safe. Stay in and try to keep positive in this troubled time.”

The former Emmerdale star appeared in good spirits as she posed in a pair of satin pyjamas, surrounded by get well cards and daffodils.

A number of Lusardi’s followers and celebrity friends were quick to send their well wishes to the star as she recovers at home.

”So good to see you well again and smiling despite everything you’ve been through. Dexter cuddles are helping I’m sure! Take care and keep well x,” wrote This Morning host Ruth Langsford.

While TV presenter Lizzie Cundy added: “Awww darling so good to see your smiling face again. You had me worried. Sending love.”

The update comes just weeks after Lusardi was admitted to hospital after testing positive for coronavirus.

In a recent interview with The Sun, the 61-year-old revealed she had been told she may not survive, explaining: ‘‘I said to [the doctor], ‘Am I going to make this?’ and he said, ‘You’re 61, I can’t guarantee anything. We don’t know what we’re dealing with here’.

“To hear that was just dreadful and I just burst into tears.”

Lusardi also opened up about the impact the virus had on her body, adding: “I started to get a fever, [I was] feeling rough and carried on, but it got worse and worse. Your head hurts, your brain hurts and you feel like an elephant is sitting on you.”

She continued: “I remember crawling to the bathroom, putting my face on the tile floor and then almost trying to make myself sick to just get a light relief for five minutes afterwards.”

Lusardi’s husband, Sam Kane, also contracted coronavirus, but his symptoms were much milder and he was soon discharged from hospital.

Kane recently praised the National Health Service for their incredible work while updating followers on his wife’s condition.

“So blessed to be spending tonight with my beautiful girl at home by my side,” he wrote on Twitter after Lusardi was discharged from hospital.

“God bless the NHS. So happy to have her home.”
